Why choose My Swim Cream?

Providing My Swim Cream is an investment in your staff’s health.

It protects against skin damage, reduces health risks and shows your commitment to workplace safety.

By taking action now, you can help avoid long-term issues and create a healthier, happier team.

The case for skin protection in aquatic environments

As an employer you understand the importance of providing sun protection for staff. But what about protection against water damage?

Prolonged water exposure can lead to serious skin damage. My Swim Cream helps to shield your employees from these effects by offering a water-resistant, pre-swim barrier that protects skin for up to four hours.

Adding My Swim Cream to your workplace health and safety program helps prevent issues before they start, while keeping your team healthy and productive.

Why should employers provide My Swim Cream?

  • Prevent skin damage: Extended water exposure can cause irritation, dryness and long-term damage. My Swim Cream creates a barrier that prevents skin issues from developing.
  • Duty of care: Employers must provide personal protective equipment (PPE). My Swim Cream should be considered PPE for aquatic professionals, just like uniforms and sun protection.
  • Mitigate risk: By providing My Swim Cream, employers help reduce absenteeism, prevent staff leaving altogether and avoid liability for long-term health issues related to skin damage.

How employers can provide My Swim Cream to staff

  1. Provide it at no cost: Many swim schools offer My Swim Cream free to staff, ensuring daily use and maximum protection. Bulk purchasing brings significant discounts.
  2. Pass on the discount: Employers can pass on their bulk discounts to staff, allowing them to purchase the cream at a lower price than retail.
  3. Sell it to customers: Employers can also sell My Swim Cream at full retail price, creating a revenue stream while offering staff protection.
  4. Include it in welcome packs: Some employers give My Swim Cream to new staff as part of their onboarding, ensuring skin protection from day one.

Choosing the right formula

  • Professional Formula (Pump Bottle): Hygienic and convenient for daily use in workplace environments. Ideal for swim teachers, lifeguards and those in water all day.

  • Intensive Formula (Jar): A heavier barrier cream designed for those with sensitive or compromised skin. Many use it post-shift for added moisture and repair.

Bulk discount pricing

  • 1-9 units Full retail price
  • 10-49 units 12% discount
  • 50-99 units 15% discount
  • 100-499 units 18% discount

Vitamin C: Nature’s answer to chlorine

Anyone who works in water knows how chlorine’s effects can linger. While pool water is treated to safe levels, chlorine often leaves skin feeling dry, irritated and with an unmistakable smell that can last for hours. Vitamin C offers a natural solution to neutralising these effects.

How Vitamin C neutralises chlorine on your skin

Chlorine binds to the natural oils in your skin, stripping moisture and causing irritation. Vitamin C works to break down chlorine molecules, reducing the damaging effects and lingering smell. This protective action allows your skin to stay healthy and hydrated, even after extended exposure to pool water.

Indigenous knowledge meets modern science

Indigenous Australians have long understood the value of lilly pilly, Kakadu plum, and Davidson plum for their high Vitamin C content and healing properties. Modern research now validates what has been known for generations. My Swim Cream takes the potent combination of these three native fruits to harness the benefits of Vitamin C within the barrier it forms, which unlike other products, stays on your skin without impacting pool water quality.

Looking ahead

As awareness of skin protection grows in the aquatics and swimming sectors, so does the need for effective, sustainable solutions. With My Swim Cream, we’re setting new standards in workplace health and safety to ensure that skin protection is a vital part of the conversation.

Why we reformulated My Swim Cream – a new era of water protection

For the past year, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, refining and improving My Swim Cream to meet the evolving needs of professionals working in aquatic environments. Our goal has always been to provide top-tier, natural skin protection for people who spend long hours in the water. But as we spoke with employers and swim schools, we realised there was a crucial gap we needed to address: a hygienic and cost-effective way to dispense our product.

Listening to employers: The call for a pump bottle

The original version of My Swim Cream was dispensed in jars, which worked well for individual use but posed challenges for workplaces. Employers were clear – they needed a more hygienic way to provide the cream to their staff. The thickness of the formula meant it couldn’t be used in a pump, so we knew reformulation was essential. At the same time, some swim schools were opting for cheaper petroleum-based products, which raised concerns for us.

We’ve always been committed to natural, health-focused ingredients. Petroleum-based products might come at a lower price, but they don’t align with our vision of supporting health and wellbeing. Why put something on your skin that’s bad for your health, especially when the goal is to protect it from water and chemical exposure? This is a core aspect of our value: we offer a natural product that shields skin from harm without adding to health or environmental problems.

The development journey: Balancing performance and price

While not all employers were concerned about the price, we understood that cost can be a barrier for some. We set out to see if we could tweak the formula to lower the price point while maintaining its high standards of protection. Our brief to the formulating team was clear: the new version had to offer the same four-hour skin protection that doesn’t wash off in water – a critical feature that sets us apart from competitor products.

The reformulation process took time. We went through several iterations, testing each with our trusted crew of swim teachers. Getting the consistency right was key. Some versions were too oily, others too thick but finally, we landed on a formula that felt luxurious on the skin, provided lasting protection and, crucially, stayed on the skin without washing off into the water. The feedback from our testers was overwhelmingly positive.

Introducing PROFESSIONAL and INTENSIVE

With the reformulation complete, we’re proud to introduce My Swim Cream in two distinct formats. The new PROFESSIONAL formula comes in a pump bottle, making it ideal for workplaces that need a hygienic, easy-to-use solution. It’s designed specifically for aquatic professionals – swim teachers, hydrotherapists, stunt actors, and more. Employers love the convenience, and many swim schools now provide it as part of their workplace health and safety programs. Some schools offer it to staff for free, while others pass on the bulk purchase discount to their teams.

The INTENSIVE formula, which is the original jar version, has been renamed to better align with the new product line. It remains an excellent choice for people with existing skin conditions who need extra protection. Many users apply it both before and after water exposure for deep, long-lasting moisture.

An innovative approach to skin protection

My Swim Cream represents an innovative approach to water protection, much like how we started adopting sun protection decades ago.

Many employers may not fully grasp the immediate and serious effects prolonged water exposure can have on their staff’s skin and health. Just as we now recognise the importance of protecting skin from UV rays, the risks posed by water exposure are very real and shouldn’t be ignored. Incorporating My Swim Cream into workplace health and safety programs is an effective way to safeguard employees who spend long hours in the water.

And we’re only just beginning. More and more employers are considering making the use of My Swim Cream mandatory before staff enter the water, setting a new standard for aquatic workplace safety. But that’s a story for another day.

Zeolite: The natural wonder for protecting skin

You’ve probably heard a lot about natural skincare ingredients, but zeolite might just be the unsung hero when it comes to protecting your skin from the effects of prolonged water exposure. If you’re working in or around water – whether in a pool, a river or even the ocean – your skin constant challenges. That’s where zeolite comes in.

What is zeolite?

Zeolite is a natural mineral formed when volcanic lava meets seawater. Think of it as nature’s detox sponge. Its unique structure is like a honeycomb filled with tiny negatively charged cavities, which attract and trap positively charged toxins, impurities and heavy metals.
While that might sound a bit technical, here’s the simplified version: zeolite has a natural ability to cleanse and protect, making it an ideal ingredient for anyone who spends time in water, especially those whose skin is prone to irritation or damage.

Why zeolite matters for people who work in the water

For those who spend long hours in the water, like swim teachers and aquatic centre staff, skin irritation is more than just an inconvenience. Prolonged exposure to water can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier, leading to dryness, irritation and, over time, more serious issues like trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). This condition weakens your skin’s defence system, making it easier for irritants and even harmful bacteria to penetrate.
This is where zeolite really shines. Its ability to draw out toxins and absorb excess oils while still being gentle on the skin makes it a must-have ingredient for those constantly exposed to harsh water conditions.

Did you know?

A study published in the Journal of Environmental Science highlighted zeolite’s effectiveness in reducing heavy metal toxicity in the skin, thanks to its ability to bind with harmful chemicals and remove them without stripping the skin of its natural oils.

Zeolite in My Swim Cream: A protective powerhouse

At My Swim Cream, we’ve tapped into the natural powers of zeolite, incorporating it into our formula specifically to combat the daily wear and tear of their skin that water workers face. Our formula, packed with Australian botanical extracts and natural waxes, is designed to offer more than just hydration – it protects your skin before and after exposure to water, while zeolite helps detox and defend against potential irritants.

Not just for the pool

And it’s not just about poolside protection. If you’re working in rivers, oceans or even freshwater lakes, zeolite’s detoxifying properties can help minimize the impact of environmental stressors like pollutants and heavy metals, all while nourishing your skin. Our formula works hard to protect your skin barrier and support its natural healing process, so you can keep doing what you love – without worrying about your skin.

Final thoughts: Listen to your skin

Your skin has a natural process for handling daily damage, but working in the water means giving it a little extra support. Zeolite provides a layer of protection that’s not only natural but highly effective at keeping your skin strong and resilient. Whether you’re dealing with pool chemicals or the natural elements of the ocean, your skin deserves the best.

So next time you’re gearing up for another shift in the water, remember the power of zeolite and give your skin the boost it needs with My Swim Cream – your skin’s best defence against water-induced irritation.

Protecting your team = protecting your business

Managing a swim school is just like any other business – staff, customers and cost control are critical. But one factor often overlooked in keeping costs down is staff health, particularly the impact of prolonged water exposure on their skin. Unchecked, this can lead to missed shifts, lost customer and valuable employees leaving the industry altogether.

The hidden cost of staff leaving

Swim teachers spend hours in the water, leading to skin irritation, dryness and in severe cases, trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). This doesn’t just affect their wellbeing, it hits your business bottom line.

When teachers need time off due to skin issues or hesitate to take on extra shifts, your business suffers. The cost of replacing staff through recruitment, training and onboarding can disrupt operations and impact team dynamics. According to the Work Institute’s 2020 Retention Report, replacing an employee costs on average 33% of their annual salary – a significant expense that can quickly add up.

Why skin issues lead to absenteeism

While it might seem like a minor issue, skin irritation can escalate quickly. Dermatological studies show that extended exposure to water, particularly chlorinated or salty water, breaks down the skin’s natural barrier, leaving it vulnerable to inflammation, infection and even long-term damage. Once the skin becomes compromised, your water-based people often need time off to recover before they can return to work.

This cycle of absenteeism creates a financial burden that is hard to manage over time, particularly for smaller businesses where every missed shift impacts revenue and customer satisfaction.

The financial benefits of prevention

So, how do you break this cycle? The answer lies in prevention. By investing in preventative health measures, specifically skincare products like My Swim Cream, you can help protect staff from water-induced damage and greatly reduce absenteeism. Research has shown that workplaces that prioritise employee health see 25% less absenteeism and 40% lower turnover – clear financial benefits for any swim school.

Protecting your team protects your business

Employers have a responsibility to provide a safe work environment and this includes addressing health risks from water exposure. Delaying action on your team’s skin health can lead to absenteeism, turnover and operational disruptions but also compromises your safe and happy work environment. By investing in protective skincare like My Swim Cream, you’ll safeguard the health of your staff and ensure the stability and productivity of your business. After all, prevention is always cheaper than the cure.
